Early this year, Ecosa partnered with a registered charitable organisation in Melbourne for homeless people: Anonymous X. They started humbly in 2013 in just a spare bedroom that was to be filled with donations. Now they’re more driven than ever towards a single mission: to make a difference and together create a change for the homeless and less fortunate.
To help them in their mission, we donated our Ecosa memory foam pillows.
What Services Does Anonymous X Offer?
Anonymous X supplies the homeless with clothing, sanitary, and essential items like jackets, shoes, toothpastes/toothbrushes, blankets, and pillows. This is made possible by generous individuals, and other non-for-profit/charitable organisations that foster similar values.
Beyond material needs, the organisation also builds relationships with homeless people. They go the extra mile to get to know stories of the homeless, and how they can offer them comfort.
Genine from Anonymous X recalls many friendships formed with the homeless over the years. She has made friends with an elderly man with whom she catches up every week. “He doesn’t like to take a lot [of donations] from us, but he knows if he needs anything in particular I will find it and have for him in our next catch-up,” she says.
How Can We Help?
Besides donating, you can help them raise awareness on social media. They put up the type of donations needed for a specific period of time, and also some other events you may be interested in. Live Facebook videos are also being posted to help raise awareness on certain issues involving homeless people.
Volunteers are still welcome! They run an outreach program called ‘X Marks the Spot’ where they would appreciate getting extra hands in on distributing goods. This is held every Thursday and Friday, and every second Wednesday.
